Organ Rescue Technology to Expand the Viable Donor Pool

Targa’s TBM-005 is being developed as an ex vivo additive to support the preservation and functional assessment of high-risk donor organs prior to transplantation, with the goal of improving access to transplantable organs.

Organ quality, not donor supply, limits transplantation.

After circulation stops, warm ischemia can initiate cellular stress and injury that may continue during organ recovery, transport, and reperfusion.

Donation after Cardiocirculatory Death (DCD) organs are often underutilized because of warm ischemia, time-to-recovery constraints, and quality concerns.

Current preservation and perfusion systems help assess organ function, but additional tools may be needed to better support the use of DCD and other high-risk donor organs.

The organ-conditioning layer for the next generation of transplantation

Targa’s solution

TBM-005 is an ex vivo organ-conditioning additive for preservation and perfusion solutions

It is designed to support organ preservation and functional assessment by helping address cellular stress associated with ischemia-reperfusion injury during ex vivo organ handling.

Device-agnostic and temperature-flexible, it integrates directly into existing workflows with no new equipment or procedural changes.

  • Added to cold storage and flush solutions at procurement
    (4-10 C)

  • Integrated into warm perfusion media during ex vivo assessment
    (37 C)

  • Compatible with major preservation and perfusion platforms

  • No new hardware or procedural changes required

Applications

Expanding what’s possible in transplant and regenerative science

Lead Clinical Program
Organ Rescue and Transplantation

TBM-005 is Targa’s lead ex vivo organ-conditioning additive, designed to support the quality and functional assessment of donor organs during recovery, preservation, and perfusion. The first clinical application is in lung transplantation, with broader potential across liver, heart, and kidney transplantation.

In development
Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine

Targa is applying its expertise in cellular protection to develop advanced solutions for cell storage and cryopreservation, designed to preserve cell viability and function across ambient and controlled-temperature conditions for cell therapy and biomanufacturing applications.
